I just ordered a XPS M1530, and the estimated date for it to ship is September 18th, when I could've swore on the phone they said July. This is crazy. Is there anything I can do? I needed it in July, but this is a whole 2 more months of waiting. I read on this forum a little bit about people getting put back a couple of weeks and stuff, but not this long....

Ok, I'm going to call after I get some dinner, but I just wanted to ask one more thing. Is it normal for the dates to be different all over the site? One thing says the laptop will come in September, and the other package with the accessories will come in July. Then another page says the reverse. And then another page says both in September. Rather confusing :\ I'll be giving them a ring here in a bit and see what they say.

Yea that's not right. A lot of people get accessories shipped before the computer (or so I have heard), but you shouldn't be getting different dates everywhere.

I called and they said something about a system being down and not being able to answer my question. I could barely understand anything that was being said. I called twice and both times each person had a really strong accent. Kind of annoying. Is there any place on the Dell site where I can chat with customer service instead? I only see places where I can talk to a sales agent (could they help?).

Also, the dates are the same on all the pages now. The laptop says ESD 08/06/2008, and the accessories say ESD 09/18/2008. Rather odd that the accessories are shipping more than a month later than the actual laptop though.

EDIT- And I got a 9 cell battery which has no delay on it. The only thing with a delay is the screen, but it says only 1 day.

ugh, still no luck with customer service. They said they were unable to tell me because part of the system is down, to try again later -.- They said July for the laptop, and it's coming in August, that I can kind of deal with. Not happy about it of course, but what can you do? Hopefully its not right. But waiting till September to get my accessories? I dunno, but I would kind of like to have my bag, car charger, etc at least sometime CLOSE to when I get my laptop. Kind of ridiculous.

I'm going to bed, I have to get up for work in 7 hours, but I'll try and find out more tomorrow. If anyone has any suggestions as to what could cause or how to solve this I'd be more than happy to listen ;)

When did this happen? There was nothing about this when I ordered, they said only the 6 cell had delays. Well, as long as I get it with no problems to where I have to send it back I'll be fine.. I kinda need it by mid-august for school.

Just got home, so I'm going to check into the accessories now, because September just cannot be right on that.

ugh, this is really getting annoying. They say some of the items may be on backorder but they cannot tell me right now, that they will email me later (can't wait to see how long that takes). I am really hoping they can send the items NOT on back order first, because I am not waiting till September for everything else.

And the 9 cell battery was the confirmed reason for late shipping on the laptop -.- I hope the 9 cell is worth the wait. I'm not happy right now, but there's not much I can do besides ***** and wait or cancel and I don't want to cancel, lol. I'll let everyone know what accessories are on back order as soon as they tell me ;)

    Same problem as you Dark...

Ordered an M1530 similar to yours (T9300 & LED) on June 23, was told at checkout that there were no delays on any of my components and that ESD would be early July. Then I got the confirmation email for my order which said: ESD: 8/6/08. I thought it was a typo at first, but now I'm just very disappointed with Dell.

Called up Kerpal @ Dell and he told me "notebook demand is just very high right now". He didn't even bring up the delay on 9-cells until I asked about the 6-cells.

Anyway, If my order doesn't make any progress in the next week I will be canceling and waiting for the Centrino 2's...not worth it to me to wait this long for a laptop that will probably be cheaper by then anyway.

I found what was being back ordered. I called for the 5th time and they finally were able to tell me its the "WRT600N Wireless N Simultaneous Dual-band Gigabit Router". So I canceled that order and I'm on the phone now having it all re-ordered and the router shipped separately. *sigh* I wish all this wasn't necessary, it's ridiculous.

Ok, turns out it isn't that. They seperated it into seperate packages and guess what? It's all getting here in July. So, I ask why, and they refer me to Financial Services.

They couldn't verify my identity so they're sending me a letter which will take 1-2 weeks to get here, that will have the reason why and from there I have to verify who I am (they wouldn't tell me how). Everything is on standby until verified. I hope I do not get everything delayed because of this, as I'm already really pissed off after this. Their customer service is horrendous, and so far I've had nothing but one trouble after the other with them...

This is completely ridiculous. I am really not happy right now

They are canceling my orders now... I'm starting to hate Dell. First they screw up my order and have to redo it, then they lie about the battery delays, then they screw up on the accessories order, now they deny me financing until they can verify that I am actually who I say I am (they won't tell me how, just to wait for a letter), and now they are canceling my orders.

Am I just expecting to much from them?

Sorry to hear that Dark. Are they canceling them or you asked them to?

I decided I'm going to give them about a week and half to update my status otherwise I'm canceling and buying basically the same configuration but w/ Centrino 2.

They are canceling it. I went on to check the status. First two of the accessories packages canceled, and now the last one (they split em up so it would ship faster). The only thing left is the laptop. If they cancel that, then I lost the deals I had on it most likely, and the deal was one of the deciding factors for me. Once I verify my identity, I'll give them a chance, but this process has not been smooth at all.

This exact same thing happened to me but once identity was confirmed about 1 week later I called and they gave me the same exact price. I had used the 25% coupon from the beginning of the month. They seem to save the configuration and discounts into some kind of quote/cart system that can be retrieved. I actually changed the payment method on the order after I closed the DFS account and payed with a credit card. They told me that it would create a new order number and push back my ship date but again it was the exact same price. The 25% off coupon is not even offered anymore but I am still using it somehow. Here are my specs I am supposed to get by July 15. I paid $1163 for this awesome setup. I only chose 2gb ram because it is easy and cheap to upgrade later and I already have a 200gb 7200rpm drive waiting at home. In general I always upgrade to the highest components that are harder to upgrade like processor, video card, and screen. That way I can easily upgrade the ram, hd, battery, or media drive later.

Well that's good to hear, thank you. I probably would have changed to a different company if they didn't keep that, as it saved me $600. About how long did it take them to send you the letter for DFS and what exactly did you have to do to verify it?

It took about 1 week. You call the 1-800 number stated and they will ask you what is the number on the bottom of the letter. It is about a 7 digit number way on the bottom. After this they will tell you congratulations and that you are approved.

I forgot to mention that I received an extra 3% off for choosing to pay the the Dell Preferred Account on the original order and they kept the same discount even after I changed the method of payment over to credit card.

You need to choose Credit Card at checkout then it will redirect you to the offer. If you choose DPA first it will bypass the offer.
