I have a dell inspiron 1520. After 3 months, my hard drive died on me. Dell sent me a new hard drive. I installed it, and reinstalled windows vista home premium edition on the new hard drive. Everything seems to be working fine, but my screen looks stretched, and not as it did before. I have a 15.4 inch monitor, and my screen resolution is at 1024 x 768 pixels. I can't seem to fix it. Please help!

is this the same resolution u had before?
-
Did you install video drivers? Did you change the setting in the control panel?
-
I didn't change anything. I just installed the vista, restarted the computer and noticed it looked stretch.

Set you're resolution back to native.. 1200by800, or w.e you're screen supports.
Do remember you're drivers being installed helps issues. -
Yeah if you just installed Vista you will need to install your own video drivers. Go to the manufacturers website and do a search for your model.

Go to the nVidia control panel (right click on desktop) and go into the settings and change the resolution and save them. That way it will always be 1280x800. Now go to Vista screen properties and make sure its on 1280x800 as well and save that. The problem should be solved (it worked for me when my resolution kept on going back to 1024x768 after waking up from sleep).
