12:19:09 PM Arora Sandeep Thank you for contacting Dell Customer Service Chat. My name is Sandeep. How may I help you?
12:19:59 PM Spencer hi I ordered a dell 1520 last night but it came in the wrong color so an agent replaced my order, but then told me that i would have to pay an extra $20 so i had her simply replace my old order
12:20:37 PM Spencer after doing so, my estimated shipping was delayed a couple days which i think should be fixed since she didnt do anything to my order
    12:20:37 PM Arora Sandeep Okay.
12:20:55 PM Spencer can I get my old ship date back?

12:21:24 PM Arora Sandeep I would be glad to assist you and resolve the issue as soon as possible.
    12:21:34 PM Spencer ok
12:22:09 PM Arora Sandeep I will look into the details at my end and tell you more about that.
12:22:24 PM Arora Sandeep To assist you better, please provide the Customer number or the Order number?
12:22:34 PM Spencer ******** is the order number
12:22:59 PM Arora Sandeep Thank you.
12:23:04 PM Arora Sandeep For verification purposes, please provide me with the name that is there on the accounts.
    12:23:12 PM Spencer Spencer
12:23:44 PM Arora Sandeep Thank you. Is ******@gmail.com your current e-mail address?
    12:23:47 PM Spencer yes
12:24:19 PM Arora Sandeep Please allow me 2-3 minutes while I research the whole issue and provide you the exact information.
    12:24:22 PM Spencer ok
12:26:49 PM Arora Sandeep Thank you for staying online. I appreciate your patience.
    12:26:54 PM Spencer no problem
12:27:04 PM Arora Sandeep Spencer, I see in the records that your order is in production as it has to go through testing, boxing and the availability so it may take some time to be shipped out and the estimated ship date is 08/08/07. This date is an estimated ship date and in 90% of cases the product gets delivered even before the shipped date. I am sending a request to expedite your order. I have also upgraded your shipping method to Next Business Day shipping free of cost, so that you get your order as quickly as possible. Please be assured that we will try our best to get your order delivered to you as soon as possible.

I said thank you and that was all it took. I'm happy to get my comp quicker :)

    Go Dell!

Cool. I sent an e-mail a couple days ago and two hours later got a reply. The CSR said he'll "personally keep track of my order ... have it expedited ... free next day shipping." The only thing I believe is the latter of the three (my shipping method has since changed to next day on order status web page). As for him personally tracking my order and having it expedited, I roll my eyes and laugh. I'm sure they say that for everyone.

What? Cutting in front of you? He basically just gave you the option of doing the same. Not to mention getting a next day shipping order does not make them build your computer faster..just means when it's done it will ship faster.

If you ask dell how big your screen is, they will say 17"..would you like next day shipping? they offer it to everyone.

expediate his means that his order will be put on priority before mine even if i placed my order first. i already have next day shipping and i am getting sick of dealing with dell reps to get jerked around for hours to get my order expediated.

I highly doubt I just cut you in line. also, you can just try this for yourself
Edit: plus I highly doubt mine would be expidited in front of yours. My estimated ship date before I talked to the rep was 8/6

I personally think its just a ploy to get you off the phone/chat/email. If everyone cut inline of everyone else... we would get no where!!! (and those unfortunate souls that don't request "expedite" service would never get their systems).

... then again... no one has ANY clue what the heck is going on @ Dell. *sigh*

    Apparently this works

Brian: "Hi, I had some trouble getting in the order for my system. The ship date is now days later than it was when I first tried to get the laptop. Can I get the shipping date moved up to my original shipping date?"
07/20/2007 02:13:41PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "I apologize for the inconvenience caused. I will try my best to help you."
07/20/2007 02:13:50PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "May I have the zip code on the account?"
    07/20/2007 02:13:57PM Brian: "xxxxx"
07/20/2007 02:14:27PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "Thank you."
07/20/2007 02:14:34PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "Brian, your email address is [email protected], am I correct?"
07/20/2007 02:14:55PM Brian: "yes that is correct"
07/20/2007 02:15:36PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "Thank you for the information."
07/20/2007 02:15:52PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "Kindly allow me 2-3 minutes while I check on the details."
    07/20/2007 02:17:46PM Brian: "thanks"
07/20/2007 02:19:30PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "Thank you for being online."
07/20/2007 02:20:26PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "I see that your order is in production and the estimated ship date is 08/02/2007."
07/20/2007 02:20:39PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "This is only the maximum time that we are taking from you and there is every possibility that your order may ship sooner once the manufacturing process is completed."
07/20/2007 02:21:01PM Brian: "correct. when i was first trying to get a pc my estimated date was 7/30"
07/20/2007 02:21:58PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "I understand your concern. Unfortunately, I will not be able to change the estimated ship date on your order as it gets generated at the time the order was placed."
07/20/2007 02:22:18PM Agent (Ranganath TP): "For your one time satisfaction, I have sent a request for the change of shipping method to next day delivery for free."

Next day will not speed up the time you get your computer . You are only waisting your time and Dells by doing this .

Ok... It takes Dell ~3 days to get me a PC with standard delivery, how does overnight shipping not get me the PC faster?

Looks pretty easy to get back to the front of the line Minj, give it a go. I contacted a customer rep simply to check up on my order status, didn't even request anything, and they rolled out the red carpet for me. Unfortunetly, I'm in Canada which has one shipping option only. They did say they were now going to 'personally track my order' blah blah blah. It's a nice gesture at least.

Cause they use DHL. Most of the time laptops even with ground shipping will get to you next day anyway. Just cause a rep gave you what you think was a free upgrade to next day doesn't mean that your getting it .

I never get standard shipping orders delivered in 1 day from Dell Small Biz. I live in a very rural area.

My Dell rep told me the same thing on the phone, that she has just put an expidite flag on my order. Two hours later I got a call from them saying that due to my product being backordered, my estimated delivery date has been bumped back a week. I really don't trust anything that these people say.
