For those who are baffled as to why these two options (found in Device Manager > right-click drive > Policies tab) are greyed out while using the following Intel SATA controller driver off Dell's official downloads page for the Studio 1535:

    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...mID=STUDIO1535&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=

SATA > Intel Matrix Storage Manager (ver 7.8)

According to many forum posts out there, people are asking whether these options can be enabled on AHCI mode. The answers vary, with some people saying that the availability of these options depends on the drive; it doesn't, really. Not if you have a recent SATA drive. The WD Scorpio Blue is no different, and it does have these capabilities.

The solution is to simply use version 8.9 from Intel's website:

All thanks to Dell for keeping up with the times. If this fix has already been posted, then it never hurts to put it out in the open.

    Cheers
