    Material:

-Vostro 1400 laptop with Vista Premium.

-PC Desktop with XP pro MCE.

    -DVD+RW cd.

    Needs:

I need to be able to use the DVD+RW cd to transfer data files from one system to another and vice versa (like a floppy).

I need to be able to burn/write data on that DVD+RW cd from both systems.

I also need to be able to erase data on that DVD+RW cd from both systems.

I basically and simply want to use my DVD+RW cd like a floppy without issues or compability problems.

    Question:

Is it possible? ...and if so, how?

Yes, packet writing allows you to do this. But it has reliability and compatibility issues compared to standard writing. Check out Nero InCD.

Yes its possible, you can use your optical drive on both systems w/out any problem but regarding the burning thing you need to adjust the setting there. So that the other OS can read what you burn in that specific dvd.
