Unless Dell accidently gave me the black lid, this brown is very very dark. It is not as dark as the bottom of the notebook, but very dark. I'll take pictures if i can find my camera, i searched earlier and couldnt find it.
-
Since you have it now. Do you play CSS.. can you do a stress test?
-
Oh man your thread title scared me! I thought you were gonna post about some ungodly delay due to the massive number of people ordering the brown lid (my local Dell Salesguy tells me I'm the only one he's heard of ordering one). I was actually hoping it would be fairly dark, as the name 'espresso' implies.
-
There is a pretty good picture of the brown lid in this review. I do agree that using the word "Espresso" should indicate that it will be dark.
-
I seen all of the lids at my local Dell Direct store and yes, the Espresso Brown is very dark...I actually thought it was the black lid until I put it next to the black lid, then I could see the difference.
-
That makes me wish I had ordered the espresso. I was worried about it being too brown but didn't want the matte finish of black so it would've been perfect.
-
Your title scared me too... I was having a hard time deciding between black and brown so I'm happy to hear that it's very dark!
-
Msiner I think you meant this review.
And ctresc89, I do hope Dell didn't send you the wrong lid. -
you ******* , i **** my pants.
-
The rep told me that it was going to be dark before I ordered it so that is why I went ahead with the espresso brown.
I am glad that they did not change the color.
PS Espresso beans are very dark. -
I don't why you worry about the color soooo much. The performance and reliability of the notebook are far more important than just the color.
Expresso is strong coffee = very dark brown = black (almost) -
-
The color doesnt bother me , i just figured it wouldve been lighter as the dell photos showed. Sorry for scaring you guys/gals.
-
i alreayd mentioned that brown looks just liek black
-
It is much darker than what my avatar shows, i reallycouldnt distinquish between the lcd lid and the bottom of the pc, but the lcd was a little lighter.
-
-
I think that review link that you guys pointed to is actually a jet black notebook. The reason that it looks brown in one of the pics is colorcast.
-
lol everyone was soiling their pants. Thought something was seriously wrong.
WARNING!!!! ...brown = dark brown -
I think all the colors are completely ridiculous. I would pick black if they were all the same price, but it's $20 less than the rest! No-brainer!
-
-
-
The problem with the black is the finish. It's not as scratch resistant and fingerprints show up all over it.
-
I was wondering is there any real pictures of the Espresso Brown? The link you gave was like, Jet Black or something.
For Dell Malaysia, black or brown, Dell charge the same, so there's no really any difference in terms of price for any color, for the Malaysians at least -
any more picture ? It seems like the picture is a bit blur. Can't judge with it.
-
-
The pic above looks brown.Yep mainly because of the flash.
More pic please ? With different angle ? -
Hmm, I thought Esspresso brown looked better than Jet black, or is it just me?
-
What made me go for espresso brown instead of jet black is that the finish seems stronger and doesn't show fingerprints as much. My ship date is still at least a week away
but I'll post some pics when I get it.
-
I'm very happy that I was able to see some pics of the espresso brown. I think alot more people would've chosen that color if they knew how dark it was.
-
I remember going to the kiosk before i ordered mines. my mom asked me " is that black?" I told her "No it's expresso brown" Then she just gave this look at me. I couldn't say anything but laugh

I am not going to read all the posts in this thread, but have you ever seen an espresso bean?
They are pretty much black with a hint of brown, hence the color of your laptop -
Espresso brown buyers beware!
