    European M1330 order progress

    Ok, it's shipping now in the US, but still no evolution in Europe? Did anybody reach production? I'm still in preproduction, since the 7th first, then since the 28th. My rep told me my laptop has reentered in production, just like if they found a problem and decided to rebuilt another one. I won't wait until the 10th of September, but I'm ready to wait a few more days to see if production is really starting. Would someone have info about the status of production in Europe?? Any REAL news I mean? :)

    Yeap ! I think it's something like this: when you pay, they do the transaction but put an hold on it, and they might be able to put the hold for one month max ... ? Just a a guess.

    I've already seen my ESD pushed from mid-july to mid-august ... I actually need my laptop for mid-august, since I'm going on an extended week-end on the 15th.

    Actually, what's the earliest european order on this forum ? Who should get their laptop first ? I ordered on June 29th. ( T7100,Red, LED screen, 160Gb 5400rpm, BT, finger print reader, X3100 graphics)

    I work in dell on factory floor in Limerick.As most of you I made order on m1330. Production this type of notebook started last weekend.

    Thanks plwarrior. Finally we have some real information! I don't understand why Dell is not communicating on this. It's just normal to have some manufacturing problems with new laptops.

    So I'm waiting to see if manufacturing is starting for me. My order was placed on the 6th, delivery was expected on Thursday, but pushed to 10th of September. I'm really hoping to have good news this week. I have red backcover for LED, so I guess that's why it was blocked. If production is resuming fast, I will maybe keep my order.

    When did you place your order plwarrior?

    Realy thx for the information. Hope that you follow giving us some news. Dell pushed to 29 august my order, when it was at first on 6 august. I hope this problems will be solved by then, and i can have my computer.

    Completely off topic but do you have any knowledge of what is holding up the Vostro production line in Limerick. I live in Limerick also - I'll willingly volunteer to help put mine together if it's a manpower issue :D but I doubt it is!!!

    Ive been onto Dell myself with the information about parts provided by plwarrior.. a NICE (shock) CSR has said this.

    " According to the update from our production team the parts should be in
    by 6th August. Please be informed that we don't promise any dates as the
    lead-time is because the manufacturing unit not providing the parts. I
    will keep you posted with the updates as soon as I there is one. "

    So thats good to know... now why can't anyone from dell just come out and say that eh !

    Out of those 30 made do you know what percentages each color lid had? In the US it seems like most are shipping black right now, and no reds or whites.

    The US just has many many more orders than the UK. So if only a small percentage are currently making it past extended testing, then the US will see more get through by pure numbers.

    Also, it would not surprise me if Dell pushes US orders first?

    The Factory in Limerick, Ireland provides Dell computers for ever country in Europe not only the UK, while the american orders are buildt in either Texas or Malaysia depending on if its a laptop or a desktop, in this case Malaysia.

    I really still can not understand this. As long as they had some problems with the laptop, how come that they already chipped some to the US?. And some people even have the 2.4 while here in europe they tell us that the 2.2 is the most you can get, the other prosseccor have problems with graphic cards....

    Does it really make sense for you. I ordered mine in 29 Jun and my ETDs is 28 August...

    No nothing about this makes much sense. But keep in mind that 3 out of 4 of the systems people have received on these boards so far have had a defect. So maybe the Ireland plant has better quality control than Malaysia, and they are not letting crappy systems out.

    Does anyone konw if we in the UK are getting any freebies??? i dont understand why they should treat US customers any special and give them a free timbuk2 bag?

    has anyone managed to get anything off Dell at all?? (extended warranties, discount, free upgrades etc etc.)

    I know that everybody is angy by waiting but that is all we can do.
    Really ther is no option to speed up the process even complaining will not help.We have to wait. They do everythink to keep good reputation.

    Hey mrkuji - you obviously did a good deal with Dell there! If you don't mind me asking, who did you contact to get that £100? Going round in circles here in Ireland even trying to get information. I've 5 units of different types on order ... all delayed!

    I emailed them 6 times and eventually sent one saying fine if you dont respond send me details on how to cancel as I am sick of being lied to about the delay... then bingo.. offered £100 to not cancel.

    I got £100 off too,

    when my order was initially delayed I gave them a list of things they could do to stop me from canceling, unsurprisingly they didn't respond, I got another email from my rep a week or so later saying they had 'just' found out about the LED screen shortage and it was this that was holding up delivery, I pointed out that the direct to dell blog had mentioned the screen shortages two weeks prior to the email and for them to say they have just found out indicates either incompetence or deliberate misinformation. I gave them a day to give me one of the things on the list or I was canceling.

    Low and behold my rep was kind enough to give me £100 for the inconvenience

    do you think it makes a difference being a business customer?

    If you are considering canceling your order because of the ridiculous delays in shipment, do it asap; I was also inclined to giving Dell the benefit of the doubt, so I sent them a message asking whether they could deliver a little earlier.

    Instead of answering my email, they charged my VISA! Now I have to wait until they fail to deliver on the first date they quoted before I can instruct the card company to give me my money back.

    You've been warned...

    The blue of the "3.Production" line ... which on the original site is less "fluorescent". Well of course I could be mistaken, and it's just a small thing.

    But it makes it worth checking the poster's history, and seeing things like " I AGREE THIS IDIOT FLAMENKO is a big troll " or " this stupid idiot is kidding " makes me think this is just a school kid trying to get some attention. And of course the insults and the spelling and grammar don't help either.

    xr31Daisy, comparing the colors is not a good idea. Quite simply because the screen capture is in JPG, so colors are slightly different, depending on the compression settings. So you can't really tell from the capture if it's a fake or not.
