Looking at the event viewer I have red error messages stating that the BCM42RLY service failed to start; it cannot find the file specified. Doing a google on the Notebook Forum, Dell Forum, and just system wide shows more than a few folks with this problem and no solution. It doesn't impact how the laptop runs but I would like to understand why this happens and how I can rectify it.
It seems to have something to do with Broadcom and I would think all those drivers are up to date since all the drivers at Dell's site are from 2007 and my laptop is a week old. Might it have something to do with connecting via wired ethernet (I'm connected via wireless)...and because I'm not connecting via a wired connection I get the error?

My laptop just did a restart on it's own, and in event viewer I saw the same error.
Any ideas what causes it? :/ -
Have no solution to it, actually, but I don't think it really impacts anything. The Event Viewer is reporting that the service didn't start, not necessarily an error, per se, just notifying that it didn't start. Might be that it was part of the Broadcom driver package that got left out when Dell modified it for its machines? It's been a while since I researched it. Think some folks on the Dell forum came up with a registry change that eliminated it for some people. Some have suggested it has something to do with the Dell taskbar. A lot of suppositions but no real answers, with the bottom line being, though, that it's not really an error...just reporting that an (unneeded) service didn't start.
