After reading about other customers problems with Dell I was fearing the worst regarding my order for a Vostro 1700, however it has turned out to be a joy.
Contacted customer services last week as I thought that 4 weeks for delivery was excessive, received very polite email from Susan at customer services saying she would look into the matter. Laptop arrived Monday!.
I also received a follow up phone call and emails from Susan.
Then noticed that I was getting a fault on the post screen regarding the power adaptor not being recognized, so emailed late last night describing fault. Just received email apologizing for fault and they are sending replacement battery and charger by next day courier.
I know this post might seem a bit gushing, but I was getting quite depressed while I was waiting for my laptop, so I know it can be hard reading negative reviews.
It's not all bad though, they seem to be trying to restore there reputation, and I feel very happy about my purchase.

Please give me email or direct call to susan, I have no luck in sellers, always getting Indians :/
-
susan is probably indian too,
i've noticed i've got through to people with christian names but turn out to be indians. -
I agree with samosa. In the last couple of months, I spoke to two Dell representatives named Martin and Ben but they had a strong Indian accent.I was kind of confused after hearing their accent, however they were both very nice and polite.

What is wrong with Indians?
I only care if they can communicate effectively in solving the problem. -
You are right, there is no hassle if they CAN communicate effectively to solve problems. The thing is , some of them can communicate very well and are very patient and friendly. However there some who do not undersatnd what you are trying to say(no matter how you try).I have had such an experience.Read the following thread and you will know what I am trying to say:

I agree. But, you can have the same issues with someone from any location regardless of whether English is their second language.
I had to call Toshiba tech support on my son's laptop and I had to ask her to repeat herself about twenty times because I could not understand her. I do not know where she was from or what language was her primary one.
I have spoken with techs in Houston, TX and I had difficulty understanding them and they were Texans! I have no idea what language they were speaking!
I don't really care where they are or where they are from as long as they can help me effectively! -
Yes obviously you can have the same issues with any other company, but as this is a Dell forum, we were discussing Dell.
-
you know what would be funny? If you can speak Hindu and can communicate perfectly with the Indian customer service really easily.
-
Hindi is a language. -
i have no quarrels with indians, although they can speak english, there is often a cultural clash where as they are trying to help you but to us it comes across as rude.
My grandfather was an indian so i'm not inciting racism. -
"What we have here is a failure to communicate!"
Have you ever noticed that if the other person does not seem to understand what you are trying to get them to understand that you start speaking louder?
Have you ever noticed that when the other person fails to understand what you are trying to say, due to a lack of common language, they are the stupid one?
Excellent customer service
