Dell had a coupon for $100 off on this machine and we're pretty excited since it's got an i3 (first gen i3) and 2 gb of ram along with the 1366 x 768 resolution screen. We got it for just over $300 new. That's with tax and shipping. I saw there was an old 11z review on the site here, but I figured that was on the older 11z 1110.![]()
I think they are discontinuing the netbooks since they aren't really listing them on the site much anymore. Any rumors out there about what's next up the pipeline? So did we get as good of a deal on this machine like we think we did? I could post all the stats, but I know that gets dull to read.![]()

I used last generation 11z, not a bad machine for the money. Personally I don't like all the glossy stuff that all the new Inspirons have (makes it hard to read outdoors or super bright areas), but that is personal preference. Given how fast they kill Inspiron models these days, it maybe wise to invest in a longer warranty.

I am glad to hear you'd used one before and that you thought it was a nice lil machine, but I agree with you on this glossy finishes to things. Both the lids and screens are fingerprint magnets. I am wondering if we shouldn't up the warranty on it too since they DID remove mini's from their site and now only the outlet carries them at this point. I hope hubby is thrilled with this new netbook, I love that you can up it to 8 GB and that it's coming with 64 bit Win 7 instead of win 7 starter.
Thanks again for your reply, I am really glad to hear you say what you did Tsunade Hime. -

I wouldn't really classify the 11z as a "netbook". It's more in the ultraportable category, since performance wise it will blow a netbook away.
Even if you got the lowest i3 model, it will still blow an Atom away in system performance.
I agree with Tsunade Hime though... the 11z is a great little notebook. (Just keep you a microfiber cloth with it. LOL.) -
LOL! I plan to keep one with it at all times. So it's more of a notebook, cool! I can't WAIT to see it in person. It won't replace my huge powerhorse 17R but it will be perfect for hubby's needs and keep him OFF my 17R.
I am glad to have a chance to get one of these new before they stopped offering them, the i3 was a big part of why we chose it over a mini 1012, that and the upgradable ram up to 8GB.

Well it's basically netbook form factor, but more powerful but it commands a higher price (obviously). IMO it's definitely a better overall choice as netbooks easily run into trouble running everyday tasks, though you previously had a Dell Mini (which are the better of netbooks) which offer 1368x768 vs the standard SVGA 1024x600. Not sure about battery, I guess that's one category where netbooks excelled (getting 10+ hours battery life for a 299 machine).

Yeah this one has a 6 cell battery like my mini did. I hear it's probably going to get around 5 hours or so. And that's great! We got a killer deal on it because there was a coupon for 100 off. Very excited, we got it for around the cost of the mini. I was blown away! We got the nice 1366 x 768 screen resolution on it so it will be perfect. We had been looking at android tablets, but this coupon on the site sealed the deal and Hubby went for it, since its going to be his machine, had to go with what he wanted.

Did you ever get your 1121? I (finally) received mine today and am spending time getting it prepped for my wife. As I always do with new laptops, first task is adding more ram, removing all the crapware, installing all windows updates, driver updates, then doing easy transfer to get all my wife's stuff on the new computer.
So far it's a pretty peppy machine, but I'm waiting to get stuff transferred over to it and then cloning the drive over to her current SSD before I really get a feel for how quick it is.
It's definitely an improvement from her old HP Mini! -

Nope still haven't gotten it yet, should have it next week we HOPE.
Glad you got yours mephiska! Sounds like a good computer, can't WAIT! -
We got it like two weeks ago! It's a GREAT Little computer too, mine was nick named Little Blue, the dell mini 1012, and this one is Little Devil! LOL! Check out this killer pic of the Clockwork Orange decal hubby got for it! Pretty cool!
So happy hubby has Little Devil now and will leave my Big Witch alone-LOL! I didn't make up it's nick name either, he named both our systems, I only named Little blue.Anyway it took over a month, but Dell did make good on this order, so I am pretty pleased!
Excited to be getting a 11z (1121) any thoughts on this model?
