    Expedited Services?

    Well I just talked to one of the dell customer service people, and told them my story about how I'm leaving for college on the 12th and how my estimated shipping date is the 16th, which is not good. But while I was talking to him he said he put my laptop on expedited services or something and that he would put it on next day delivery too, but what I want to know is what does expedited services mean? Should I expect is sooner or try to find someone who can bring the laptop up to my at college? Who knows, dell is getting on my nerves now... Also I ordered a 1521 spring green on 7/22 so thats why its probably taking so long..

    Expedited order means that they theoretically push your order to the beginning of the line. HCW is right it doesn't do much.

    I would call corporate. But I don't know the number, so I couldn't give it to you.

    THey said they'd expedite my order a week or so ago... its still not here...

    CSR's have little to no effect on computer completion. They say it more or less to make you fell better about your delayed computer delivery and also to shut you up.

    I even had one tell me that my computer would ship as planned on 7/30 and arrive 7/31 as planned, even though I was talking to him on 7/30 and the computer wasnt even in the boxing stage yet.

    Expidited means NOTHING! Nothing at all. Useless. My order is supposed to be an "expided order" that was to ship on 8/2...now it has been expidited to 8/28!!! Ha....ha...ha..ha..ha..

    Im starting to think expedited means theyve pushed you at the end of the line but gave you the overnight to compensate for buildtime regardless because it'll still ship the same day but by doing so they put you at a worse perdicament than before because of the vast number of orders hitting a CERTAIN plant. (malaysia cough cough).

    my theory though. could be true you know.

    Well thats great... when they told me that I thought that maybe I'd be getting it before I leave for college, but now I really doubt it. If I woulda known that it'd take this long to get a laptop I would have just bought something else.

    If this will make you feel better, a week after your notebook arrives, you will have forgotten all about the delay and you'll love it.

    I'm telling myself that at the moment because I have this bad feeling I'm not going to get my laptop on time.

    Okay, I was in the same situation where I was leaving on the 9th for college. I can't say for sure why, but I couldn't help but try. And mine shipped out yesterday, estimated to be delivered on Monday!

    I pretty much bugged them through online chat at least three or four times a day, making sure they all said "expedite request". One agent named poonja_saran, prolly not her real name, said she'd follow my order and keep me posted.

    Can't be totally sure it's the cause for the speedy build and delivery, but it was frustrating just doing nothing! Also, all chat transcripts are sent to your email, and from experience, written requests holds more weight. That's my theory anyway. GOOD LUCK!

    I was on with a csr the other day, and they said that they couldn't expidite my order until my original shipping date had passed. I ordered a Green 1521 on July 13th. Three weeks ago today. My original shipping date is Monday. I highly doubt I'll be getting it on Tuesday.

    BTW, I ordered Photoshop Elements from Buy.com for my new laptop yesterday, and chose the free shipping option(7-9 days). I came home from work today, it was already here. Yes, free shipping 7-9 days, took less than 48 hours. Where's my laptop? :)

    My 1420, which was supposed to ship on 8/1, was in kitting on Wednesday (8/1) with a new delivery date of 8/16. I called and requested expediting. It was then in boxing on Thursday and shipped today... new delivery date is 8/8... don't know if expediting it made any difference, but it doesn't seem to have hurt... ymmv...

    I was told twice that they would expedite, and it seems to have helped, I moved into testing today. But would they expediting speed up the testing and boxing stages too?

    I got expidted twice yesterday too, but its still in build stage. I just know I'm gonna get a delay

    That's strange. I emailed them the day I placed my order, 7/23. They refunded my shipping charges and expedited my order. Doesn't look as if expediting does anything since they are handing it out to everyone.
