The one thing about Dell is that they charge outragous amounts of money for minimal RAM. I'm still deciding between the more portable E1505 and the more powerful (and sexier graphics card in the 7900 Go) E1705. Either way, it doesn't matter for this question...

I'm going to select 512 MB of Ram at 533 MHZ. I plan on buying 2 GB of RAM from newegg.com. However, what I'm wondering is...does it HAVE to be 533MHZ or can I go all out and buy 667 MHZ from newegg and have it work perfect? Thanks!

It should work as long as it's DDR2.

I would really jus tlike to order two of these:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145012

Dell would chrage $300 to expand to 2GB, while I can do it for $180 at newegg (before shipping). Not to mention, Dell's RAM would be slower (533) and this is 667. I just don't know if I'm able to use it in the system.

One of teh "reviewers" on newegg posted:

Pros: Great memory for my new Dell E1505. Runs like a champ with no problems. Newegg had the memory to me in two days.

    Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have been shopping Newegg for several years and will continue to shop here.

    So yeah,it should!

corsair makes excellent ram but they seem to have alot of dead on arrivals and other issues but if/when you get some ram that works its great. Best ram in my opinion is crucial (which dell often sells seperate from systems) its the most stable high quality ram you can buy and is built from scratch right here in the states (near my hometown actually) it tends to be expensive though

I've pretty much always used crucial or corsair. Kingston isn't bad either.
