    I have just ordered (friday 19) an 8600.
    So i need a responce quickly or it will be too late.

    Is the $100 worth it for the pentium over the celeron?

    I don't mind the batery drain, if that is the only issue. Just as long as their are no hang ups, or errors...
    Slight speed slow downs won't bother me, just no HUGE slow downs.
    I won't be gaming...unfortunatly.

    Your thoughts please. The most I will do with this new machine is on-line trading with multiple active charts and trading platform, and news sites.. maybe 6 windows total...

    The Winbook A130 I have now works fine.{ amd athlon xp-m(2400+)913mghz 200 fsb, with 512 MB , S3 Savage8 shared video 32MB , 14.1 xga at 1024x768.}
    which is most comparable to the athlon 2400+?

    EDIT [8D]thanks I made the change to pentium, seems worth it...

    just call dell!!! do you know if they've shipped it yet??? if its customized then it will take time before they ship it so there might be time to upgrade it ot cancel. just give dell a call and they'll probably need your order number so if you can, call them as soon as possible!!! there might be a 30-an hour wait so be patient.

    celeron m is always slower than pentium m . thats why the price of them differs because of the performance. pentium m is the way to go. but thats me. ive never used celeron m but used just the regular celeron on a laptop and theres a big difference in speed and performance. if you dnt want to pay more and willing to wait alittle bit then celeron is for you but for me, pentium m is the way to go.
