I've heard some comments from people that in recent years Dell have charge an extortionate rate for extended warranty, going into the hundreds.

I remember paying around £125 about three years ago for a 4 year Next Business Day warranty on a XPS M1530, I just wondered whether it's possible to pay this amount nowadays and if it is, how does one actually do it? Do people try and get a pricematch for example with squaretrade, or does it depend on the agent you speak with?

Just look into what dell charges for the warranty upgrade you want from the customization options (of a new pc). Call them up and request a warranty and set your expectation at that price.

Oh man lol I ordered an xps 15 and they messed up my order so they didn't put the warranty on it ( I didnt check the order too so its my fault)... I called them back and they refused to add the warranty option even tho if I pay, they asked for 344$ to add it and it was for 139$ when I purchased the laptop... long story short.. they will ask u to return the laptop and order a new one with a warranty.. this is stupid but that is how they are..they double over charge if u add it after.

This does suck but Dell is a business and they are not in business to lose money.

The fact that let you add a warranty after using the computer is a pretty sweet deal if you're desperate. If not, you had the option to pay a lot less to begin with and you should have taken it.

I don't think your argument stands, as the 1st year of warranty comes standard with the laptop. Extended warranty starts at the end of the 1st year

I did add the option but they forgot to add it to the order :) so why pay double price if they made a mistake? ( and I made a mistake too by not checking the order details) anyway I had to return it and order a new one.. tho the rep who processed my order the second time was confused why they didn't re-add the plan even tho I offered to pay..
