I just got my Vostro 1500 Friday, and didn't buy the warranty. Should I buy the warranty? I think it's like $300 for 3 yrs? I kinda figured, that's about 1/2 of what I paid for the laptop, so not sure if it's worth it or not :( ..

My prior laptop, a Toshiba, never had a problem for 3 yrs and didn't buy the extended warranty.

I know the sale of warranty are a high gross profit product, so not sure the likelyhood of using it.

Thoughts, extended warranty or no extended warranty?

If you don't take your laptop out that much, or if your not a klutz, then I wouldn't buy it and just be real careful. 300 bucks is alot of money, might as well get an iPhone at BestBuy with that

Well you can always get just the parts warranty, which will cost a lot less than the accidental warranty. However, the way I look at it is that if you know what your doing with the laptop (in terms of repair) you can usually fix the problem for less than the cost of the warranty. Warranties are like insurance you never know. But honestly, in 2 years, the laptop as a whole wont be worth too much so even if you bust it to pieces, you could buy a new used one for the price of the warranty.

I agree, that has always been my thought... how much is it giong to be worth in 1-2-3 yrs to replace... Then again this laptop is replacing one I spilled wine on :( .... but first time I screw up a pc / laptop that I would've used insurance.

$300 insurance or bank the $300 as insurance in case it screws up I just put up another $300-400 and get a new laptop.... hmm

Let's say they replace it in 2-3 yrs under insurance, do they actually replace it with the same model or fix yours ?
