I'm looking to get a 1645 on ebay, but the only problem is that the warranty expired about a month ago. Dell says I can call in to request an extension, but I keep getting put on hold. Does anyone have any experience on extending an already expired warranty?

I would be wary of buying laptops from eBay. Have you looked in the Dell Outlet?

Yes you can extend warranty afterwards but I am not sure what the conditions are or till what point in time can you do it.

Tell them that you got a call from one of their reps before the warranty was about to expire and you were expecting a callback but never got one.

Last year I extended the warranty approx 25 days after it had expired without any problems. I will agree with Robin24k that its better to buy from an outlet than on ebay, unless you're getting a killer deal for a used notebook. I doubt you will find a new notebook at a better rate than dell outlet.
