is it possible to extend my laptop's warranty after it expired? my laptop is currently a brick sitting in the corner because it powers on for about 1 second before shutting off. one of my friend tells me that i can extend the warranty for a year for like $200 and i can send it in and get it fixed, is it true? (i see the warranty extending option on the website but im not sure how "limited" the "limited warranty" is.

No, they will send a tech to your house to check out the laptop before they ok it.

What i would do is open it up and put on some new thermal paste on your cpu and see if that fixes it.

i think it might be the video card or possibly the cpu. vista refused to run after a while, and the screen was all glitchy in ubuntu. one night i just heard the fan go from quiet to super fast for 5 seconds and it auto-shutdown and i could never turn it on again.

Dell will upgrade your warranty after its expired but you will have to pay a $100 "fine". I.e. your warranty will cost 100 extra. How long has it been since it expired?
