    Hi,

I would like to remove the HDD from my Inspiron 600m and carry it with me daily as my external drive. (2.5 inches)

Could any one please suggest the BEST external drive enclosure for this hard Drive? I bought one, however, it was useful for IBM Thinkpad drives only

    Your replies would be appreciated.

I haven't heard of brand specific hard drive enclosures. Modern notebook hard drives all have the same interfaces...maybe the jumper positions are different, but that's really it. All notebook hard drive enclosures will work for their size.

HD sizes are standardized so if you bought a HD enclosure, it should work regardless of who the maker of the notebook or actual hard drive is.

    am i misunderstanding something?

well, I removed the Inspiron HDD and tried plugging in the HDD enclosure I purchased at meritline.com, I found that the PIN arrangement was different for Dell.

Hence the reason I was looking for a specific dell HDD enclosure
