    Hi,

I've got a Dell Latitude D520 and it's not happy with an external display. External monitors including Dell ones keep going into power saving mode when Im using the laptop? Sometimes it flicks off and back on and other times goes off for long periods. The monitor is fine, and the cables are tight on. I've installed the latest drivers.

Do you think I need to send it back to Dell?

    Thanks
    Lou

Have you tried checking the cable connection, there might be a problem on the connection of the cables and try to check the settings of the system, go to the control panel and check the settings for the power settings of the system.

Hi, tried different cables, monitors and projector all causing problems. Set all power settings to "Never".

    Thanks

Try to update the BIOS of the system and if ever it still have the same problem, I believe you might want to call Dell for this, I believe you might have a hardware problem on this.

    Hello,

This is Richard of the Dell's Online Community Outreach. I wanted to ask you how long, after you turn on the computer, does the display go out? Also, if you power up the computer into the bios with the external display in use, does it go out as it does while in Windows?

    Regards,
    Richard B
