This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     External monitor problems

    I have my inspiron 1420 hooked up to an external monitor but whenever I close the lid (goes into standby) and then open it back up again (come out of standby) it makes the monitor the default monitor instead of the notebook and also changes the resolutions. It's a pain. I'm using XP and I have integrated graphics
