    after having dell ship me 3 different versions of m/d 2.0 and 2 versions of media experience i finally found a tech that could understand what i needed (even though i gave them the part #)
    rant over
    newest part# is
    DN293 KIT, SOFTWARE, DELL MEDIA DIRECT, 3, SERVICE, DIGITAL VIDEO DISK DRIVE

    I was lucky I purchased a E1705, which I received this week. And I explicitly asked that they send me Media Direct 3. And when the system arrived the disks did to.

    Lucky you, they keep sending me the outdated version and Media Experiance 3.1.
    I think its been like 4 times sending the wrong thing. Ile try that part number thanks

    no problem i think ive received 4 m/d cd total also make sure you tell them its a dvd supposedly different list of parts on their end also installation is totally different you boot to the disk and it formats your whole disk so back up your windows partition first. :eek: :) :cool:

    I just got done chatting with a rep and I told him how many times this has been ect. and then he said he would send out the correct cd. I said I was told that 4 times already so how would I know its the right one this tmie, and he said its the cd or dvd being shipped with new systems. I hope this is the one !

    they should send you an e-mail if they do take the dispatch number off it look it up on dells sight under support history it if its 3.0 it will be a dvd
    by the way hows the weather in chicago here in tulsa ok we got 2 inches of ice&sleet followed by 11inches of snow yuck!

    Yah it was bad but not terrible, I think the news exagerated it a bit. My mom whos a pilot for American has been stuck in LA since early yesterday and doesnt expect to be cleared for take-off till 7pm tonight because of traffic delays ect.

    i aint dat lucky..did ask dell about media direct 3. he told me dat my system might be not compatible to md 3, so he's not sending me one. izzit true?
