    Hello~

I have an old Inspiron 6000, I pretty much reformatted it when I first got it.

I, however, didn't take notice of the name given to it by Dell, and was curious to what this might be, I figure it has to do with the Service Tag and the model number, so can anyone tell me?

Not crystal clear on what you are asking, but if you are asking what the Windows computer name that is assigned by default when you turn on a new Dell and go through the 1st time Windows setup, it is the service tag number.

Hope that is what you were looking for.

You can find and change the computer name under control panel> system> computer name tab.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm looking for, so it's just the service tag? No model number or anything?

Oh, yes, I already know how to change it, but thanks anyway :)

Oh yea, really don't want to start another topic, but would it be advisable to update the graphic card drivers (either the Omega or ATI Catalyst Mobility)? I have the Dell drivers installed for the x300, and it's old, released sometime in 2005, or should I not bother?

First check with support.dell.com and see if they have updated drivers for your gpu. If not, then update to the latest driver.

Then again, i'm one of those that believe if its not broke, then don't try to fix it.

Already did, Dell still have the one from 2005.

I suppose I'll try the newwest Mobility Catalyst, I've tried that one before, but ATI told me the one I have isn't supported, but by reading the thread here ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64910)

It says it'll be fine, would it be okay?
