Hopefully this in the right thread.

So I got my m1330 on Friday last week so it isn;t terribly old or anything.
I tried to install Sp1 and I kept on getting a
    0xc0000034 error 249/71494.

I looked up on MSDN and they said just to restore my computer. Lucky it eventually worked because I would have been so stuffed. I updated my touchstrip and the sound drivers so that I could get sp1 on Windows update.

So my questions are: did this happen to anyone else? what happened? Is there any way of ever getting sp1 on my computer?

I feel like I dodged a bullet but I am still so angry that it did not work and that I had to do some hard resets on my computer.

    Thank you

No problem installing Vista SP1 on my XPS M1330, it went smoother than I expected it to. I did do all updates and disabled my anti virus before installing it.

a lot of dell computers, like mine, are using drivers for the sound card and the ethernet card that vista sp1 might not be compatible with. apparently, microsoft is working on the issue, so new dell computers aren't shipping with sp1 already installed.
