Is there a way to manually control the fan speed on 1545? The fan on this thing seem to start running even when watching a low res video on youtube or just sitting there idle. And then it takes a long time for the fan to shut off.

I tried I8kfanGUI and FanSpeed, but they are not compatible with 1545.

Messing with the fan settings is very dodgy, I mean it turns on for a reason. If your processor is getting too hot then there are other things you could do:

    1. Undervolt your processor - look in the hardware forum, the first sticky, there is a link to the guide there.
    2. Apply thermal paste to your processor - it's likely Dell just used a thermal pad.

Those are much much better options rather than changing fan settings.
