I was wondering what can be causing my fun to start running really high now when running processes as opposed to when i first got the computer. Like right now the fan is running low, but if i were to open up word it starts to run high and loud for a while. Should i run a program to clean my registry or something or what. I have a Inspiron 1150. And whats the best settings for virtual memory. Ive tried 3 different settings. I have 256mb ram. First i had it on the computer set, then i tried 512min 512 max, then 348 min 768 max. Can any1 tell me the best way to set VMemory. Thanks

Try a couple of things. You may have a lot of spyware on your computer if you use the internet. Download Spybot Search and Destroy.

Second, try taking some compressed air and blowing on the fan intakes on the computer. Perhaps there is some dust build up on the fans, although this tends to be more of a problem with the Inspiron 5150.

Finally, I recommend letting windows manage the virtual memory.

I've running this program for a couple weeks and IMHO it's a keeper.

If youve been overclocking at all that can do it too. I notice that sometimes until I wind my settings down and the fans stop almost immediately.
