I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D which sounds like a vacuum cleaner, the German technicians must have done something strange with the fan specs :) Now I am about to buy either a Dell 8500 or 8600. Does anyone have any comments about its (eventual) loudness? Is the fan disturbing or not?
I will not run any shoot-em ups but work mostly with statistical analysis, Office programs and maybe some DVD movies :)

    TIA,

a vacuum cleaner isn't exactly what you want in the background of a DVD movie [ :)] However, the 8600 or 8500 are not that loud and will work fine for you. They're louder than a ThinkPad T40 say, but overall much quieter than your experience with the Fujitsu!
