so this is really pissing me off. On my fedex tracking page it says my laptop got delivered but i never signed for it and the driver is saying someone at my house did. I called fedex and said they will have their security looking at it.
-
-
Now there saying they are going tp bring the driver to my house to make sure he got the right address. The wierd thing is that the driver says someone from inside the house opened the door and signed.
-
wow that happened to me with my lcd flatscreen from vizio i was pissed!!! but they eventually found it and fired the driver that tried to steal it hehe
-
Ok so it looks like the driver had a no clue where he left the package. They are going to try to get find it. He thinks he must have left it at the wrong house. Not sure how he does that. House Numbers are clearly marked. How can someone just sign something like that. The FedEx Manager said he would pay for it if the package is lost or damage or if there is any funny business. If any part of my package is damaged or if its even opened I really dont want to accept it.
Anyone know how much insurance Dell puts on the shipments? -
hahaha thats what my manager said. but they eventually found my package.... like 2 streets down from me at a house with the same house number as me.... luckly i live in a nice neighborhood and the kid never opened it and was trying to find me
-
Keep this updated, this is interesting. I know a few people who work for FedEx and they do tend to steal things. They've gotten away with some Apple iPhones.
-
Well the manager at the local fedex said he would call me back by 5 CT and update on my lost laptop.
Just called Dell and they will be sending a replacement laptop and their security team will investigate the situation since FedEx still says my order was delivered. They will also send it overnight delivery. That pretty much means I have to wait another week
My gut feeling is the driver had a brain fart and gave the package away to the wrong house. Lucky my Mom and John (next door neighbor) were really letting him have it. He seemed confused but its just strange he left the service tag at my neighbor's place yesterday then today left it at a different house today. -
Doorbell rings. John answers the door. Fedex, package here. John thinks, "Mary must have ordered something" and signs without ever looking at the name and address on the package. Mary comes home later, knows she didn't order anything, figures the package belongs to John.
6 months later, John and Mary split up, because they're both sick of the other one's habit of leaving things lying around.
When I ordered my iPod touch when they first came out, it was delivered to the office on the floor below mine, along with another one ordered by a co-worker. -
-
Yeah, I wouldn't accept it if it's been opened.
The package has your correct name, address and phone number on it. You'd really think John and Mary, all kidding aside, would notice and call you or FedEx if they're halfway honest people. -
Just really annoying and frustrating but I guess stuff like this happens sometimes. I'm just glad its not my word against his word and there is no dispute. What im kind of worried about now is my 100 dollar giftcard that im supposed to receive 21 days after I get my laptop. Its not the regular giftcard that comes but from particualar sales team in India that sends it. If my order gets canceled or returned they dont send it. -
i say get the replacement and then if you can find the missing laptop, keep it then sell that one on ebay for a nice profit hehe
-
Sounds like Fed Ex hired some former DHL drivers ahh DHL, free stuff from Dell was so fun to get. Signature required items would regularly be left out in the open = free stuff.
I miss DHL. -
-
-
Well the manager of the local FedEx called and said they still haven't found my laptop. He said he will call security tomorrow if nothing shows up at 9:30.
-
-
Otherwise its mostly guitar and computer stuff in the box.
-
I have ordered enough car parts from Ebay to build an entire 911 GT2 ...
-
Well they found my package this morning but I refused since it kind of looked like it could have been open plus I really don't want to accept a laptop thats been in someone elses house for over 24hrs.
Could someone tell me how they package the studio 1555? Is it in a small box w/ a handle or does it in a big box? -
Heres a youtube video to give you an idea.

Yes, Dell is already making me a replacement and said they its scheduled to get to me by next Thursday. -
-
FedEx handles literally millions of packages a day just in the United States. They miss deliver yours, and the driver is automatically branded a thief? As for the "stick it to FedEx" part, they are the shipper. Putting one more 10 lb. box in a can on a MD-11 for Chicago won't make an impact in their stock price.
BTW, theft of interstate commerce is a felony, the FBI dosen't like that. -
I'm sorry you had to go thru this on your new lappy...
Hopefully, when you get your replacement all will be good to go with it.

Nice...Kudo's to you...*sigh*
Now, wonder why all the Dell pricing keeps going up...Can we say accommodation for things like this??? -
It is not uncommon for Fedex to deliver to the wrong address. I have had three packages on separate occasions delivered to addresses in another town that it 90 miles away from here.
In each case, they had to go out to the house and pick up the packages and deliver them to me. Amazingly, not one of them had been opened. If I was delivered a package, I would probably open it without reading the label. After I determined that it was not mine, I would either call the carrier or deliver it myself if it was in my neighborhood.
Mistakes happen! I was not happy about it, but hey, they are only human! -
I don't think I made it entirely clear about the the miss deliver. On Tuesday the package was supposed to arrive. I wait from 10am to 2pm for it. I check online and it says deliver exception. Says I wasn't at home. Later in the day my next door neighbor gets the FedEx tag and puts it on my door.
The next day I wake up at 9am just to make sure i get the package. I wait and wait and finally at 12 I check online and it says delivered. The same driver gave the package to a house a couple blocks away. I'm sorry but my neighborhood house numbers are clearly marked. I thought something shady was going or he was moron to drop a FedEx tag at my next door neighbors house then the next day make the same mistake again and gave the package to an entirely different house. 24 hrs later they find my package.
How f*ck dumb can you be? Add to it that he was very rude and made some bs excuse about how he was really busy. You know it might not cost FedEx a lot to send the old package back and a new one to me but i'm sure Dell doesn't take to this kindly. Plus i felt good refusing the deliver from the same deliver guy. -
To the original poster: Sometimes these things go wrong, it's a shame, and very inconvenient considering you've probably waited 3 weeks or more and now will have to wait even longer. I'd make a written complaint to Fedex. It might not get you anywhere, but I mean come on, how difficult is it to get a parcel to the address printed on the label.
At least Dell is sorting it out for you; hope your next delivery goes a little smoother! -
Fragilexx i seen your signature.
-
Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully I get it before the 3rd of August. I'm going on vacation that day.
Dell has given me Overnight delivery. Does that bypass the regional FedEx Office or do they still drop it off there? If that happens I will be contacting them and telling them to hold the package there so i can pick it up. -
See, if you can have the lappy held at the FedEx Depot..That way you know it will be there...That YOU will have to physically show a Valid ID (ie Drivers License) to be able to retrieve it from the FedEx Rep behind the PickUp CounterI have done this on the delivery of my 1530, when I wasn't at home to receive it, and I actually felt better knowing it was there waiting for me to pick it up.
If you are not going to be at home to receive the lappy, it will most like be held at your local FedEx depot. You would receive a CallTag/PickUp Notice on your door w/Delivery Attempt Notification & instruction as to what you should do. (Pickup at Depot, Signature Release to leave Package).

To OP: I'm glad things worked out for you atleast. Its unfortunate it happened, but not all the drivers are the same. FedEx doesn't hire the best people for the job either. The company I currently work for is still fighting a case against FedEx for one of the drivers delivering a box of medical records which required a signature etc but was left on the hallway of a complex...this just shows how bad some drivers are lol. -
Fedex Driver might have stolen my studio 15
