    Hi all,

first post so be nice :p

I'm loking to buy a XPS M1530 soon but having putting it off as I wait for the new Penryn CPU's to be fitted out... I just have a couple of questions before the purchase...

It should be noted that I will be using this for gaming, programming and other uni based activities.

    1. Should I be getting the 1440x900 or the 1680x1050...
    2. How long do people think it'll be until Dell upgrades the 1530's to the new penryns, considering that the new BIOS A07 has just been released...
    3. Should I be looking at getting the 5400rpm or ther 7200rpm HDD's?
    4. Is this a good laptop for the use that I'm intending it for?

    Thoughts, links are most welcome.

    Cheers,
    AP

    1. This is your personal preference. Look at some screens in a store to see if you can handle the higher res or want to go with 1440x900
    2. Probably another month or so
    3. 7200rpm, especially if you want to do gaming
    4. Yes, definitely

    Welcome to the forums :)

Why do you think that Dell will wait that long before adding Peryns to the M1530?

I actually meant "within another month or so", but I forgot the within. I would suspect very soon, but obviously, I have no sources to back it up. Pure speculation. The only indication is that the M1330 has it and the M1530 BIOS has been updated recently to support Penryn. Why they haven't added it yet is a mystery to me.
