    Finally got XP on my 1420

    Followed the instructions and it worked great, now I'm running XP Pro on my Inspiron 1420.

    Couple of questions, I followed the directions for installing the sigmatel sound driver but instead substituted a different driver, one that worked on my M1710 which had enabled stereo mix. This driver would not work correctly on my 1420. It installed but in device manager there was an exclamation mark and it said "Can not start device" or something. Both use sigmatel integrated so idk why it wouldn't work.

    Second, I can't get remote desktop connection to work, but I never can get that to work

    I was going to attach the file but it didn't work b/c its an exe but heres another method that some people have had success with

    1) Go here and download this one but don't install it http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor...eid=R122161&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=162467

    2) Uninstall old drivers

    3) Extract to folder

    4) Go to WDM folder in extracted folder and replace 92xxm2-5 with attached file

    5) Install, and see if it works
