Finally got my Vostro 1700.

Okay, finally got my Vostro 1700, it's a different system than what I expected. The LCD was dim when I got it... I used the brightness and it seems fine now, but how do you check what LCD you got? Also, how do you turn off this pesk sidebar? Anything else I should do?

Anything anyone wants me to take pictures of? I'll have a review up later... close pictures and everything.

Also, I got my Vista CD... no Audigy HD.

 

You go that fast! I ordered mine 8/23 and the estimated ship date is 9/4.

 

lol... mine did ship out pretty quickly... kinda bummed that they promised next business day shipping, but it got here on Wednesday after shipping out on Sunday.

 

You did get yours fast! I ordered a Vostro 1500 on Aug. 18th and it was just delivered about 30 minutes ago.

 

So how did you guys get yours so fast? Was your estimated ship date actually later and it just shipped earlier than expected? I hope that happens to me!

Is the finish on the Vostro similar to the finish on the black macbook?

 

With a vostro it's usally a lot faster than the esd... that's the plus of getting a vostro.

And while I haven't used a macbook (pro), it's a dull, matte finish, and the macbooks seem glossy to me. The closest thing I can think of this plastic is my desktop keyboard or my TV.

 

Hi, just wanted to ask for a nice reivew of all aspects of the 1700. Could you post special detail on:
The Keyboard noise, travel of they keys and if there is any give in the keyboard when typing.
Run a CPU benchmark and comment on the fan noise & temps of the system.
Comment/Take Pictures/Screen Shots of the screen, especially viewing angle's & DVD playback quality etc.
Some Game benchmarks would be nice, some 3dmark results and the like.
Could you do all these test on a full charge, and tell me the battery life???

Because your system is exacly the same as the spec i want, a general use/oppinion would really help me decide between this and the 1720.
As these are the same laptop with just the looks being different, LOTS of pictures of all views please.

Ah, I'll have it up by this evening if you're willing to wait that long... but the 1700 and 1720 are the exact same laptop except for price and color.
