I ordered last Tuesday, and bought the two-day shipping so I could have it for the weekend so I can get it ready for summer classes that started today.
Well DHL flubbed up and the package sat hundreds of miles away at their TN facility for three days (Dell said they're are going to refund shipping charges). So it finally arrived today..
I think Dell sent me a new laptop, everything was still wrapped in plastic. The protective plastic was still on the piano black media buttons and along the barrel hinges. There's not even a Refurbished sticker on it like there is on my old 1520 from the Outlet. All the regular XPS goodies were still shrink wrapped, not a single mark anywhere on the machine to make me believe it's ever been in anyones hands. Oh, the LED screen is freakin' awesome- it's so bright and vivid, it hurts my eyes. If you're on the fence for the screen, you won't regret the LED.
The Midnight Blue exterior is really dark, I honestly thought they sent me a black laptop when I opened the box. Now I finally get why some people call it Midnight Black...
The Dell BT Travel Mouse that it came with was sorta dissapointing - takes two regular AA batteries. My Targus BT Mouse on my 1520 is rechargeable (rechargeable AAAs, and the mouse charges through a USB cable). So I imagine I'll need to invest in a battery charger and rechargeable AAs.
Anyway, another happy 1530 owner.

grudkin, How much did you pay for that thing? The specs look great. And when did you purchase it? I haven't been able to find any high spec XPS's in the Outlet =(

Cameron, my sales guy, was very pleasant to work with and said this was the first LED 1530 he has seen at the Outlet (which I believe, it was the first one I saw and the last one I've seen since and I check multiple times throughout the day) and that this one was "extremely popular" over the weekend as in it had been in and out of a lot of peoples carts over the weekend (I guess they can see that kind of information). Which leads me to a question I've been pondering, how many people use a Dell credit account to buy their laptops? Were others not able to pick this laptop up because of the same problem I had on wanting to purchase on a holiday where the outlet sales team was out of the office?
The cost of the system was $1,219.00 before taxes. I specced a new similar one on the EPP site for $1485 before taxes, but it would not have gotten it until late June and I kinda needed it now for classes. The 9-cell battery and spare adapter was purchased seperate from the system in the Outlet, but the system did come with a new Dell BT Travel Mouse which isn't listed in my sig. -
I think WUXGA and WXGA+ LED screens just arrived at the outlet.
I bought mine in April 26 from Outlet and there wasn't any of the newer screen types.
The M1530 in my sig cost $925+tax. -
I love my LED screen. I was suprised about the blue being almost black. I was hoping it would turn out like the picture. Oh well. I love my machine.
Finally recieved my 1530 from the Outlet...
