Well, as promised, my laptop arrived on February 5th. I took the entire day after school testing it out (which means I did no homework...). I can say with the utmost confidence that it is nearly perfect. The LED display is practically flawless on my system. There are no gaps near the speakers like man people have reported, and the display gap at the top is non-existant.
However, I do have the dreaded CPU whine. It's not as loud as I thought it might be, and sometimes I don't even hear it. But it's there.
Also, the right side of the keyboard flexes a small amount when pressed in.

Overall, I'd definately say it's worth what I payed.

    I'll post pictures later.

Lucky you. I was gonna ask you how your system went (noticed your signature yesterday). I also got a new m1330 yesterday. My new one wobbles and whines louder than this one. I'm gonna cry :'(. But the centrino sticker on the new one is different. But no new processor for me.

I'm at school in the library now listening to mine make a whining frying sound. But i'm glad you like your system. Welcome to the m1330 owners club.

    Thanks.

Ya, my centrino sticker is different as well.

    Sorry about yours. :(

Is there any known way to get rid of the CPU whine, or at least make it quieter?

Also, I'll be posting pictures later anyways, but if anyone wants any specific shots, I'd be more than willing to take them...
Same thing goes with any questions you guys might have about the slot loading drive noise, etc.

Use RMclock and turn off the C4 state. That gets rid of most of the whine on mine.

Take a high res picture of your screen, I want to see how it looks. Is it Toshiba or CMO?

I went into device manager and checked, and it said LCDLP. Or something along that lines. (I'm at school, will have to double check when I get home). But yes, I'll take a picture.

Does turning off the C4 state make the processor heat up more and use more battery life?

RM clock doesn't work very well in vista. I tried it and all it did was make my computer freeze at random times. As for the increased heat and decreased battery life. I don't know the exact numbers, but yes. If you can live with the whine you're lucky, but imagine the people at school who will be able to hear it? lol. Just hope they don't know it's coming from you :p.

Man, I really hate reading about all these problems even after all this time Dell has had to resolve them.

Now, I know this is a forum for discussing these kinds of things and this is just about all I'll hear, but still.

I really want an m1330 too.

You should get an M1330 then. Really, it's worth it.

well I recieved mine today as well but so far there is no CPU wine. Good to see everyone is having fairly good luck with theirs. Mine has no issues although the DVD region code was not set properly and wouldnt play any of my dvd's until I realized what it was. Over all im very pleased so far with it.
