Well, after weeks and weeks and weeks of waiting for my old 1420 to be returned, waiting for Dell to credit my money back, and waiting to recieve my money check in the mail, I have finally managed to get my money back and purchase the XPS M1330.
So here's the thing: Dell was offering an additional 10% discount on top of any current EPP deal, so I figured that I could apply that 10% to my order in addition to my grandpa's 16% Boeing discount. However, I was wrong.
When I called up to order (I had to order over the phone, using a cashier's check...long story) and set up my configuration, the woman rep. told me that I could not use both the 16% Boeing discount and the 10% together. She managed to talk to her manager and make it work though. I wasn't able to set up the purchase that moment, because she wanted a Cashier's Check number, and I didn't have the cashiers check that moment. So she gave me a number to give to another rep once I called back.
After I got the cashiers check for the total amount of money she said the laptop would cost, I called back. Apparently, the rep gave me a bogus quote number. So I had to rebuild the system with this new rep. However, the same problem occured with the 10% and 16% discounts. She and her manager would not, however, give me the both discounts. I decided that I'd try calling a different rep, and I hung up.
This time it was a really cool, nice acting guy. He was very patient with me, and gave me the additional 10% on top of my 16% Boeing discount.
ALL IN ALL, it was a very, very good deal.
So here's my savings:
$399.00 instant savings
16% Boeing discount
10% additional discount
The total price before discounts was: $1923.00. After discounts and with tax, the total price was $1250.11.
Here's a look at my specs:
Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz)
2GB Memory
160GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Slim and light LED display with VGA webcam
Slot Load CD/DVD Burner Drive
Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card
Windows Vista Home Premium
There's a number of reasons why I decided not to go for the $799 off configuration, mainly because of battery and heat issues that I feel strongly about. And the only real difference between the two prices is the 2 and 3 year warranty, the processor and RAM.
So what do you guys think?
-
Excellent choice and good price. I'm getting an M1330 soon. It was shipped out today so it's on it's way
I don't envy you the waiting part. I ordered the 17 and it shipped today (23rd) so I shouldn't be so impatient I guess but it's my first laptop and I'm too excited. -
Congrat's
! I know you've been waiting for your 1420 matter to get cleared up, so your could order your 1330 & now you did it!!! Great price!!!
When's your ship date? -
The estimated shipping date Dell gave me is the 14th of February. But I'm pretty sure it'll be sooner than that.
-
u made a wise choice my friend. get ready for the smexyness
-
-
Haha, I suppose not. "Thanks for the Great Valentines gift Dell!".
I've heard that the Tuxedo Black lid picks up a lot of fingerprints...how easily can the lid be cleaned, and what should I clean it with? -
u got a very good deal. hope u get a great system!
-
very nice deal
-
i think you should call and get it cheaper.
-
Good call on going with the T7250. The 7200 RPM 160GB does warm up a bit though.
-
Ya, I was wondering about the 7200 RPM hard drive as well. But I'd thought it'd be nice to have faster data transfering rates, etc.
-
ermm.. i got mine .. the "best" config..
2.2ghz
3gb ram
250gb hd
led backlit
nvidia 8400
out the door with tax and free shipping for $1220 -
That's a nice price, dude. What sort of discounts did you get?
My first thought was that I, too, wanted the "best" config, but I liked the look of the one I actually purchased. -
-
2200 regular price..
800 instant savings
8% student discount even tho i graduated already lol
10% holiday discount that expires today 1/24
came out to same price as yours with .2ghz more and 1gb ram more
but i think ordering on phone is different.. -
Ya, like I said earlier, I would have gone with that $799 off configuration, but I thought a 2.2ghz CPU and 3 GB of RAM was to much, and would probably create more heat than I was comfortable with, even if only by a small difference.
-
I ordered last night as well... XPS M1330 with T7500, 3G RAM, 250G HDD, LED baclkit lcd for $1239 shipped.
-
T7500, 3Gb ram
160Gb 7200rpm HDD
Intel Wireless N, Bluetooth, etc.
6+9cell batteries.
-$799 Discount
-10% Holiday coupon
-8% EPP
$1350 inc tax/shipping
Without the 9cell battery it would be a lil less than your setup. -
-
Besides that, unlike 2.2 (ghz), the 2.0 (ghz) is a prime number.
-
i have to get use to not seeing your 1420 signature
so when is it expected to ship? -
Dell has estimated Feburary 14th. But I'm expecting it sooner.
-
i got out the door inc tax for 1340 with same config + wireless N -
he probaby has the EPP discount as well
