Anyone else experience the fingerprint scanner software crashes a lot? Randomly Vista will pop up saying the tray application has crashed.

Wonder if it's to do with my using Firefox instead of IE?

PS I can't spell fingerprint, apparently.

What fingerprint software are you using?

If it's OmniPass 4.0 then it should support Firefox, as well as, IE. OmniPass may crash on you...or it may not. I've heard from both sides of the spectrum with this software.

There DOES appear to be other alternatives to using OmniPass, however. Microsoft Fingerprint Reader might be one you could try. I believe you need to install an extension that allows using the reader with Firefox: http://www.fingerauth.com.

You should install the UPEK fingerprint readersuite (also identified by vista) nothing else. this works (at least on my system) without any problems even when resuming from sleep/hibernation

I guess, have no issues whatsoever with that driver.
