Fingerprint Reader - do you save to HDD or FP module?

I started to setup the finger scanner and it gave me two choices of where to save the scans. Either the finger print module itself or to the harddrive. Both are encrypted it seems. It says the module can save a max of 21 fingerprints while the HDD can save unlimited amounts.

It also states that this choice can only be made once. I chickened out and canceled setup until I knew which to choose.

What are the ramifications of either choice? What do you guys choose and why? Since it seems the choice is not changeable later.

    Thanks!

PS-this is for my new XPS M1330!

I store it on the reader. I have formatted the comp a few times and all my info is still on there which is awesome. As I don't have 21 fingers and don't see the need to register so many, I don't see a point in putting it on the HD. It seems like its more likely to get stolen or corrupted if its on the HD.

    my 2 cents

I use the reader's memory for the same reason. I had the same experience after reformatting. That is, it remembered both fingerprints I had registered.

Another vote for saving info on the Reader itself instead of the HD.

I stored them in the reader too, for the same reason as mentioned above.

Put it on the reader, it's both safer so that someone can't reformat your computer and gain access that way, and it keeps you from having to redo it over and over again.

Seems like storing on the reader is the consensus. I just don't like the one time only choice. I don't want to commit! Lol!

So what it actually means is I get to store only once and then I lose that memory register????
I did use the reader memory and it seemed sensible, but I wont I be able to clear it for good and redo it all over again????

I stored on the reader as well just because I don't remember being asked about the HDD although if I did I wouldn't have taken it anyways.
