Which one of these is annoying me more right now.. ugh..

between the lojack refusing to make a test call, asking me download the software (did that) and it still isnt working..:confused2:

    and

the fingerprint reader, ive looked at the software, the drivers, device manager.. then i get to the services and its not there.. :nah:
i download the drivers.. nothing... keeps saying "you have the most updated drivers, driver not updated"
before at least i was able to start logging my passwords.. now .. it keeps asking "install the drivers from your dell utilites cd" when i click on the taskbar icon, enroll fingerprints... :confused2:

id be humbled at any help.. :notworthy:

i feel like an idiot :err:trying to figure this out.. lol

Have you uninstalled the fingerprint software by and then re-installed it by any chance? For some reason it doesn't like this happening. Also check that the reader is enabled in the bios as this may be why the device doesn't actually show up in windows.

Not sure about the lowjack thing as you may simply not have a signal for it to make the test call.

I'll say you what I did during a new Vista's (Ultimate 64) installation:

I installed the driver, I reeboted and then installed the "DigitalPersona Personal" Fingerprint Software using the CD present in the parcel...

I saved my fingerprint but I had authentification problems at the verification before entering in Vista (bugged sw.?)... I solved the issue setting in Vista "less accurate verification".

Less accurate fingerprint verification can result in anyone managing to log into your laptop. The swipe can fail initially for any number of reasons. I've even known someone (they will remain nameless) who trained the system with one finger and tried to log in with a different one. He kept complaining that the reader was crap at recognising him. :D

I gently pointed out that it wasn't psychic and could only validate the finger it knew about....
