Hi Guys-
Just finished bumping my CPU from a T2400 (1.83Ghz) to T7600 (2.33Ghz). Increased the cache from 2MB to 4MB. Bumped the memory from TwinMOS 2X1GB PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) to Corsair 2X2GB PC2-6400 (DDR2-800). Double the memory. Everything in Windows XP seems to be running smooth. The installations was pretty easy. The only thing I didn't do that dell recommends is replace the thernal pads. The existing pads seemed to be okay. It took awhile but I followed the service manual straight from dell. That made it a snap for a first-timer. Here is the link for removing/installing all components for the E1705. Its a step-by-step manual with some really good pictures.

My question(s) are for the experts in this forum.
1. Do I need to make any changes in BIOS with this upgrade?
2. Can I slighty overclock this CPU and memory?
3. Has anyone had any problems running Win7 64bit on this notebook?
4. If so, what Windows operating systems runs the most stable?
Thanks in advance for the advice and all the help. I feel like I popped my cherry in the notebook hardware upgrade world. How cool is that? lol

1) No, if your laptop boots up and works, then you don't need a new BIOS.
2) Not on that computer, unless you're comfortable soldering CPU pins and PLL chips.
3) N/A (I don't have an E1705)
4) See above -
i would worry about the thermal pad as they are not meant to be taken off and reused like that. Watch your temps to make sure your not cooking your cpu there.
