Just wanted to let everyone know that Digital Home Thoughts just uploaded their 23 minute review of the 14z. I think it's the first review to go online.

There is also THIS!

Is the YouTube vid still private or have they fixed it?? -
That's a very nice review as well. I want it!
The YouTube video isn't private anymore. I found that it focused on other things rather than the laptop itself, though. It did show some gameplay of CoD4 on medium-high settings that looked awesome. -
-
wow thats horrible frame rate, why ?? when you can play the 360 version at 60fps at 1080p?
-
Because you can carry a Studio 14z in a backpack or under your arm, but you can't do the same with an Xbox 360, controllers, and everything else.
-
Ok... People... take note... THIS IS HOW A REVIEW SHOULD BE DONE!
Haha i laugh at all the people who take a video of them opening up a box... then showing off the various ports of a computer... even when they dont know what the port does....
great review. -
I just finished it, it's an excellently done review.

Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
Nice review overall. +rep

PC COD4 isn't optimized to run on any specific computer GPU. -
anyone experiencing the palmrest flex mentioned in the review?
For the sake of clarity here goes:
Whats wrong with the xbox in this scenario?
1. the xbox360 doesn't play most games at 1080p. only at 720p. PS3 does 1080p
2. the xbox360 is like a $200 minimum upgrade and its not portable. as thus, its like having a $200 minimum desktop graphics card. In this day and age, everyone needs a computer so if you have a desktop its like the "same" almost.
3. a $150 computer graphics card does over 1080p with ease. An ati 4850 will suffice plenty for most games.
4. the xbox versions actually doesn't have as much eyecandy as a pc and theres no way to adjust it, I can't exactly remember where there was a picture comparison but I dont think a console could handle crysis on medium at this moment. This is less of an argument.
So pretty much, an xbox is like extracting the graphics card from a desktop and using that as your gaming machine.
What about the laptop?
1. The pricing of this laptop actually falls in line with many other laptops.
2. Graphics cards at this price of this particular performance is a nifty benefit.
3. Unless the review lies, the reviewer is playing at 1600x900 with all options at low. Based on how the 9400m g memory bandwith is limited, its safe to say, it will perform much much better at 720p.
All in all, my personal opinion is that a simple laptop like this is excellent for on the go rather than the xbox. Btw, i use an xbox controller for my pc for racing games and a 2nd person for left4dead so you can't say i hate the xbox. the controllers are great. just doesn't justify the hardware cost in these scenarios [cod4] -
Mine doesn't have the palm rest flex problem on either side.
-
The review was pretty good. What do you think about the chassis not being level? Do you think that there is a good chance that I would have the same problem if I were to buy it?

Thanks, this helps. -
Mine is perfectly flat as well.
Definitely some keyboard flex though, especially on the righthand side
