    First Laptop! Ordered Yesterday!

    I ordered my first laptop yesterday (04/13/09). It is a Dell Studio XPS (the rest of the specs are in my sig). It is currently in the "In Production" stage. I am really excited for this computer as I built it myself. It is estimated to arrive 05/06/09. What are the odds that is arrives sooner than this EDD?

    There is a very good chance it will ship sooner than the ESD :D Dell always over projects on the ESD, to protect for potential delays such as part delays, production problems, etc.. ;)

    I always recommend (and so does Dell),,checking your order online, via your dell.com account, and via 1-800-433-9014 (automated dial), enter your 9 digit order number..for the latest up-to-date info' on your lappy :D

    You did the easy part ordering..now the hardest part is upon you..waiting :D

    Hey, congratz on your first laptop!

    I remember my first laptop, it wasn't strong but it got teh job done. 3 years and still strong, but got this Alienware. Trust me, if you're into comps, even when you get something better, you will feel attached to your first lappy. I still keep it and use it even if I have no use for it.

    UPDATE: Just called, it is currently in the build stage. I was also informed that the estimated ship date is 04/29/09. The shipping method is "LTL 5 DAY OR LESS" whatever that means.

    So I just called 12:35 WST and it is still in the In Production "Build Stage." I am so anxious for this puppy to be delivered. Any ideas on when it will hop to the next stage?

    I'm wondering if tomorrow, or Tuesday..it may just hop out of the Build stage and into the next stage for yah! ;) It should update overnight tonight!

    I'm sure it won't take that long for you!

    I know..waiting is so hard, when you want your new lappy so badly..Hang in there..it won't be soon, before long! ;)

    Call the Automated Dial tomorrow morning, and see what the latest is, and also contact a Rep.and see what their latest Status Update for you, is!

    I sure hope yours comes on time. I ordered on 4/7, a week earlier than you, and I have an estimated ship date of 4/22. I'll keep you posted. BTW, I am still in the build stage (as you can see in my sig).

    Hey Cin. I just called and it is still in the build stage and the automated message still predicts a 04/29/09 ship date. I am assuming it will jump stages soon as it will be a week tomorrow from the original order date.

    Thanks tsger! This really helps as it allows me to compare dates. I will keep you updated on my status as well. It seems as if your system has been in the build stage for a while. If mine is like yours, I have another week in the build stage. :(

    OK, we'll see how good Dell is. As of the evening of the 20th, mine is still in the build stage. The automated order status phone number still says it should ship on the 22nd. So, I would expect that tomorrow it would move out of the build stage and into the testing stage, in order for it to ship the day after. Something tells me I'll be getting the dreaded "your order has been delayed" email. I guess I'm trying to prepare for the worst, so that I'll be pleasantly surprised if they hold to their original ship date.

    All in all, the wait is kind of fun, especially being able to compare notes with others!

    UPDATE: I just called the automated number and I have been informed that my laptop is now in the BOXING stage. Still and ESD of 4/29/09 which is somewhat misleading. Most boxing stages, from what I have researched, last several days, so this unit could be shipping by the end of this week. When do you guys expect it to be shipped/delivered?

    UPDATE: HOLY COW, I called and the automated number now claims my laptop has shipped! I am waiting for an email confirming so, but wow. That is a good week and a half earlier than the estimated shipping date!
