Hello. What should I install/uninstall on the M1530? It's my first laptop, and I have removed all the stupid bloatware (Mcaffe, google desktop, etc). And installed some codec package and newest video drivers.

What do you think I should do next? Should I format and reinstall windows? What software is recommended for M1530?

Get it baptized by your local priest. Always fun when you have nothing better to do.

    LOL :)

But really you should head over to the Reformat & Bloatware Removal thread and do as instructed.

    Edit:
Sorry I see you have already done the bloatware removal, in that case... Instal Steam, Orange Box and a couple other games of your choice!

Umm if you've already went through the trouble of removing the bloatware, why would you want to format and reinstall the OS? Seems like a waste of effort.

Personally, I'd format and reinstall the OS - that way I don't need to worry about catching all the bloatware. Then I'd install my favourite apps (FireFox, ImgBurn, etc).

If I reinstall the OS with the provided installation disks, will it be a "normal" Windows Vista? Or will it still be customized with Dell software?

I would say start off by putting a small ding\scratch on it so from that point on you are obsessive about it and can use it normally without any worries )

I checked mine over carefully, to make sure everything was good with it. :D

And, then I followed Les's "Dell Vista Laptop Reformat and Bloatware Removal Guide". ;) :)

Which is an awesome guide BTW ;) :)

It already came with some scratches around Media Direct and Power buttons :'(

I was thinking about doing the same, but are any real improvements? Is it easy? (I read about reformatting the partitions, and maybe I will mess it up)

OT: The topic should be "... after receiving..." :p

    Any more _real_ suggestions?

I'd like to discover some useful programs for the laptop or tweaks.

    Thanks
