    Hi all,
I recognise that Dell1505 has 2 types of CPU: Duo core (bus 533) and Core 2 Duo (bus 667) but RAM option of Dell 1505 has only bus 533.
The question is that can I fit RAM bus 667 PC2 5400 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227099) or bus 667 PC2 5300 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145012) in Dell 1505? Which brand do you choose between OCZ and Corsair? Is there any difference in speed between PC2 5300 and PC2 5400?

If I want to upgrade HDD from 5400rpm to 7200, can I fit this Hitachi HDD ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822146053) in Dell 1505?????????

Is it easy to upgrade RAM or HDD in Dell 1505?

    Thanks

You should be able to use PC5300 or the PC5400. What I have heard is that PC5300 was the next logical speed grade, running at 333MHz (667 Data Rate), but for marketing purposes or perhaps to have an edge over the rest, it was quickly replaced by PC5400 which was rated at 337MHz (675 Data Rate).

    So can I use either PC2 5300 or PC2 5400?

Im not totally sure about that but I would just get 5300 to be on the safe side. There is no difference between the two. You would probably not even notice a difference between 667 and 533 ram.

You mean that it is no use to fit RAM bus 667 in Dell 1505 if I use CPU Core 2 duo 1.83Ghz/667 (T5600) or 2.0Ghz/667 (T7200) because the speed of RAM is still 533??????????

Let me try to clear up some confusion here.

    1. If you buy the e1505 with a Core Duo with 533MHz bus, then even if you use 667MHz memory it will downclock itself to 533MHz. The memory and the bus get synchronized.

    2. If you buy the e1505 with a Core Duo/Core 2 Duo with 667MHz bus, then the 667MHz memory will run at that speed given you dont pair the 667MHz memory with any slower memory.

In any case the differences between 533MHz & 667MHz are not too great. Only benchmarking software will notice the difference, for regular everyday use there will be zero benefits.

If I use a pair of RAM bus 667 and CPU Core 2 Duo with bus 667, the speed of RAM will be 667. Right????

I don't know what you're talking about but the Intel Core Duo has 667Mhz bus and supports 667Mhz memory.

    Yes.

Not all have 667 bus. The T2250 & T2050 run at 533MHz bus.

It should be noted that although 533 vs. 667 seems like a big difference, the fact is, the CAS Latency jumps from 4 to 5 with the 667. So, while the bus speed is faster, the latency is slower. Net gain is minimal. If the price were the same, I suppose i'd get the 667 (PC5300).

Yep, that's the right hard drive. If you read the user reviews, you'd see a review of a user with an E1505 that installed this drive successfully.

Can I fit RAM or HDD to upgrade for Dell 1505 by myself?

If you mean "can I do the upgrade myself", the answer is "probably". If you can unscrew screws, you can do the upgrade. The user manual for the e1505 has illustrated instructions for doing both. Check them out.

I have a T2500 (core duo 1) and it can support 667 ram, now if you have a T7200 (core duo 2) and its not a 533 front side bus modle because they didnt come out with them yet, so u deffently can use 667 ram.

Well I picked up the following:
    2 x (90054) Corsair VS1GSDS667D2 1GB DDR2-667 PC2-5300 Value Select SO-DIMM Memory Retail

NOT COMPATIBLE on my e1505 Duo/Core. BSOD on both machines.
