I have two of these. Does anyone know how to open one of these up to fix a worn cable?

    Thanks,

    Adrian S

You don't want to fix a worn cable. That will just make a hazardous, but working, adapter.

I'm electrically competent and safe and hate throwing things away!. I'd just like to know if these adapters can be opened and resealed. If so, I'll look at the feasibility of removing the damaged part of the cable and re-terminating it.

There are probably screws underneath the sticker on the bottom.

Thanks for the hint, sadly there are no screws there.

You can open a Dell PA10 or PA12 adapter, but... To do so you need to use a grinding/cutting tool. The adapters are heat sealed at the factory and that is about the only way. To reseal it you can use epoxy. I do not suggest that you do this unless you are really desperate. You can use the link above to buy one for $30.

Over the years, I've picked up several used PA's on eBay for around $15 or less.
