    the PCMCIA is not really a flash memory slot ...it a interface conector. It allows you to put in PC Wireless card....firewire...usb2...
    you can also plug in a card reader

    yeah lazzzy_dude is right. I don't use mine for anything since I don't have a need for it at the moment. On my old laptop, I used it for wireless card.

    I've seen a compact flash card reader for the pcmcia slot. My question is, how fast (or slow) is the transfer? I have canon digital cameras which use CF and this would be a good solution, but I don't know if it will be 10 times slower than usb or not.
