    Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could Help me! :( I have a Dell Inspiron 510m and two days ago the lights above the keys (on the right) started flashing red.
There are four lights. Here's the order of flashes:
    Light 1 - Constant green
Lights 2, 3, 4 - Four red flashes then black
    then
    Light 3 - Green flash.
    And then it cycles.

Can anyone help? I don't know what's wrong because I'm not very computer-minded and my warranty ran out a year ago so I'm not even sure if I can call Dell for support. Any idea what this problem could be?

    With thanks in advance

    Julia

I'm not sure what the light might be for because i don't have a laptop yet, but i'm sure someone here might know.

I would guess that it indicates your battery is dead and should be replaced. See how long the battery will keep the notebook powered on.

I found a related thread that points to a bad battery.

You can try doing a few full discharges and recharges to see if that helps. You can also contact Dell and they'll tell you exactly what those flashing codes mean.
