Anyone install FSX on their Inspiron/Vostro with an 8600M GT? I'm just curious as to how well it runs.

it should run great assuming you have fs sp1 installed.

    its gonna run ok,

Im not being funny but i have a quad core xeon at 3.4ghz (water cooled and over clocked) with 4gb ram and an 8800gts which is clocked quite nicely as well.

And at 1650x1050 i get around 30fps with all details on high this is with fs:x sp1 installed. before that it was really bad.

You will get it running at a stable frame rate but you will have to drop the autogen scenary density and turn off the hdr light bloom, also ground shadows.

There are a few mods out there also which can improve performance when flying, especially when flying over forests and such as the trees for some reason can cause a massive fps hit.

Flightsim.com has a good forum if i remember rightly which can help out with settings to use and such.

In final it will run, but i would be tempted to stick with fs9 if you have it.

Fs9 modded can look "almost" as good as fs:x with all details on. And it wont have such a massive fps hit.
