Hello, I have a e1705 Inspiron laptop, and I used to be able to make it standby using the Fn + escape buttons on the keyboard (escape has "stand by" written on it in blue, meaning it does that when you press function), but now it does nothing at all when I press Fn + escape. I am not sure, but this problem may have started after a Dell technician replaced my 7900 GS graphics card (the old one broke).
Interestingly, when I open the Dell QuickSet and go to the Hotkeys section, it lists all the Fn + [button] combinations on my keyboard except for the Fn + escape combination which does standby... That's kind of weird, because it used to work properly.
Does anyone know how to regain this standby keyboard shortcut functionality?

I'm in the same boat, my hotkey for ejecting the cd doesnt work.

For one, make sure that Dell Quickset is running. Even if it is installed, you must have it turned on in order for most FN functions to work.
As for the standby problem, I would check your power settings and verify everything is correct. The technician might have changed your standby settings to check the video card.
Are any of your other FN functions working? -
Thanks Amber, I didn't know that! I thought that quickset was bs software Dell installed.
