This is on the Inspiron 8100. The combination used to work but now I can't get the screen brightness controls to work. When I press the screen brightness controls on lower right corner the cursor just moves between different desktop icons and this occurs whether the function key is depressed or not. Anyone know what I did or what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

Do you have Dell quickset installed? i don't know if that is required on the 8100. I know on some of the newer systems, you have to have Quickset installed and running in order to use some of the FN functions.
