Has anyone managed to get the Fn+10 keypress that ejects the optical drive on an Inspiron, to work on an XPS (M1210) or Latitude? I would think it would require changing QuickSet somehow...

I get used to using Fn+10 when on my E1705, and miss it when on a Latitude or XPS...

    Thanks for any ideas!

It should require quickset, but on the XPS/Latitude it might be a different key. Do you see any blue icons on the keyboard that looks like cd with an arrow?

Off the subject - but I buy more laptop junk than I do shoes :p

Well, on the Latitudes I've worked with recently (D620 and D820) there is not the familiar blue CD-eject icon on any of the keys, nor is there on my M1210.

I believe it is a function of the Quick-set, somehow. (but i'm not positive).

Fn+10 does nothing when I press it on my M1210 or my previous D620.

i'd rather Press the button on the drive is better choice.
The Fn+F10 is cool for the 1st time u use it, but it 'll get bored quickly.

Excuse me, I use the FN+F10 regularly, I'm not a "1st time u use it" person, and I don't get bored using it. For me it's easier than fumbling around the side of my notebook looking for the button.

I was really looking for a solution or workaround, not taking an opinion poll, but thanks!

in addition is there any way the buttons on e1405 to get assigned to do other functions. The Play , Pause and Forward buttons work only with media player , not with other applications :(

please create new threads if the subject doesn't apply to the current topic - some users don't like their thread being hijacked. Yes you can get the media buttons to function with other applications like winamp and some older versions of iTunes - we have several threads on here that tells you how to do that.
