If I choose to run it, I just use my PS3. I don't like running those kind of apps on my computer.

    I run Seti@Home on a P4 desktop 24/7. Been doing it since '99.

    I believe in aliens.

I run it all day long on my desktop, I don't want to put too my strain on my laptop, I love this thing and wouldn't want it running at rull blast 24/7. I just wouldn't feel comfortable running it on an already scorching hot laptop. I'm not sure if it keeps running when on battery power either which is why I stay away. Want to maximize battery power.

I'm not even going to begin to try and explain it myself so I copied this excerpt for you! "Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, in many ways remains a mystery.

Moreover, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes. "

And to FearTheTerp, you can set it to not fold when on battery power.

lol. I believe in aliens too. My logic is the following: If Earth has life, Mars once had water to support potential life, Titan (one of Saturn's moon) has (frozen) water which could potentially support life if melted...then what makes us so arogant to think that our planet is the only one in the universe to support life when even our own solar system has so many potential candidates? There are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth. That's what I learned in school. So yea, I think the probability of there being life out there is pretty high. Not that we can do anything about it anytime soon.

Anyway, I digress. Dun you think it's a bit of a waste of energy to be running your desktop 24/7? Especially a P4!! Those things were insanely power hungry. Does anyone seriously think Seti@Home is gonna find anything? lol.

Oh, and no, I don't run Folding@Home on my computers.
