I was wondering, If one day my 8600MGT on XPSM1530 is dead, and no warranty , is that possible I pay to get a new 8600MGT(or newer card for M1530 if they got one in future) from dell?

Because if graphic card dead, the whole laptop become unusable without a display card!

Just call them and find out. They will replace your laptop if it dies!

You'd have to change the whole motherboard, which will be quite costly. Reason being that the GFX card is soddered onto the motherboard. You can't pay for a new GFX chip only. Now if you bought the M1730, the graphics card is upgradable.

I doubt they will only replace a video card.

If you got warranty; Try sending it in for repair.

never hurts to try. i've lurked here for a while and have seen people get their money back and other stuff by just asking CSRs so i say go for it. but i would wait till something actually happens, because if you just ask one day and then sometime later in the year something DOES actually happen, then they might think something is up.

I would think that if the laptop is NOT covered under warranty, they don't have to replace anything for any reason. If it's still under warranty, and you didn't overclock the card, then yes, they will replace it, but again, if it isn't under warranty, you are definitely out of luck, and they will NOT replace it.

They would have to replace the whole motherboard. It will cost a LOT.

I think you might be able to order the part for the motherboard... but they most likely wouldn't install it for you. Though it would be best to call them up and ask. If there is indeed a replacement that comes out replacing the M1530, you will not be able to get any sort of replacement at all.

Are you trying to overclock your GFX chip to its limits?

I'm 99.9% sure the nvidia 8600m GT is not soldered on to the motherboard.

Meaning you CAN replace it separately.

No, the gfx card is soldered onto the mobo. Sorry to burst your bubble. It is only modular on the Inspiron 1520s. You'd think they'd do it for XPS when they do it for Inspiron. Guess budget laptops have their shining points.

If you wish they would change it so its upgradable and not soldered, promote this idea:

Yeah, um yitzer, the graphics card is soldered in to the motherboard, nothing you can do about it. And I was unaware this thread was about "if I were to pay money, could I get it fixed," Well theoretically, if you paid them enough, they would fix it, but I don't think it would be worth it. So the answer, in my opinion, would be no, you can't pay to have it fixed, you'd have to buy the mobo yourself.
